Collecting Movie Posters Today

Tip! Motivation provides detailed information on Motivation, Daily Motivation, Employee Motivation, Motivation Posters and more. Motivation is affiliated with Christian Motivational Speakers.

Just like collecting stamps, collecting movie posters is a fabulous way to either decorate a place or keep a piece of the movie with you for a long time to come. There are really no set rules as to what kind of movie posters to collect. Some people collect movie posters only from a certain genre, e.g. comedies and romance flicks only. And some people collect movie posters of movies from a certain period of time. Some people who are fans of all types of movies collect movie posters of ALL kinds! And then the movie posters are filed according to the time they were released or genre that the movie belongs to.

The basic general rule of thumb is that you should just collect whatever movie poster that you like. Apart from movie posters, some people collect souvenirs, lobby cards, tickets, or CDs. There’s no limit as to what you can collect apart from movie posters.

Tip! Many poster exhibitions, auctions and museums showcase art posters. Collectors can get information from various collector’s magazines like Jon Warren’s price guide, Movie Poster Price Almanac, and many more.

One of the most difficult thing to master about collecting movie posters is…how to keep the movie poster from disintegrating over time! Like all other types of art work, the quality of the movie posters will deteriorate. One way to preserve the movie poster is to use the ‘linen-backing’ method. You mount the movie poster onto a treated canvas and then place a sheet of rice paper on top of the movie poster. So, the movie poster is actually safely sandwiched between the canvas and the rice paper.

If you intend to keep the movie posters for a long period of time, you should take proper care of the movie posters and keep them away from direct sunlight. When the movie posters are exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, the colors on the movie poster will start to fade and the paper will start turning yellow. Be warned, the yellowing process is not reversible. Therefore, keep the movie posters in a safe place, away from the sun and at room temperature.

Tip! Managers of many companies strongly believe that these posters are silent teachers. Explicitly, they might not seem to be of much importance, but in the long run they contribute to creating a positive atmosphere in the organization.

The biggest problem about having a large collection of movie posters is the space. While you may choose to frame and display some of your favorite movie posters on the walls of your office or home, you can’t possibly find enough space to display all three thousand over movie posters in your possession! A filing cabinet is the best way to file and keep the movie posters safe.

If you have children, keep the cabinets locked if you don’t want them tearing into your movie posters collections. And keep the key somewhere safe.

5 Tips for Choosing the Right Motivational Posters for the Office

Tip! Inspirational posters are available for purchase online. They are not very expensive.

As with choosing any art piece whether it is a print, original painting, sculpture, photograph or collectable, you can make or break a room choosing incorrectly.

You can make quite a statement with the correct art piece! It can communicate on many different levels.

Have you ever walked into an office for the very first time and while waiting, find yourself looking around, examining everything in the room? You can get a real good feel for the people there and get a sense of what they are all about.

From your own experiences and observations you’ve probably seen people with very good taste and then again, people who do not seem to have a clue about design or even worse yet, people who don’t care a hoot about aesthetics at all!

Tip! 1881 - France passed laws that established specific areas for hanging posters and set a fee to be able to hang them. This made posters the top source of advertising for businesses.

But if you are reading this article, then I’m sure you are not one of those people in the last category! Thank Goodness! We need all the aesthetics we can get on this sometimes seemingly wacky place we live!

Tip # 1

And probably the most important, if you don’t absolutely love it, don’t buy it!

Tip # 2

If you are making the art piece the focal point of the room, build around it. All the office furniture and accessories should compliment the print.

Tip # 3

Don’t overpower the poster with too much color on the walls or furniture unless it is a very dramatic print that can carry it well! It will just disappear into the background.

Tip # 4

What is it that you want to convey to your employees, leadership, initiative, teamwork, success, confidence, determination? It’s important to get across the right message. A captivating print with an inspirational quote can be a powerful tool that can help motivate staff and impress clients who come to your place of business.

Tip! Managers of many companies strongly believe that these posters are silent teachers. Explicitly, they might not seem to be of much importance, but in the long run they contribute to creating a positive atmosphere in the organization.

Tip # 5

Choosing the right frame can make a huge difference in the overall appearance of the motivational posters you choose. You want people to see the prints and get your message across so choose carefully.

If a motivational poster or print moves you and you feel it will motivate other who see it, then you have a winner!!!

Enjoy the research of finding what is right for your office!

Posters

Tip! Inspirational posters with religious content are a way for people to demonstrate their religious beliefs. Schools, colleges, hospitals, offices, and religious institutions usually display inspirational posters.

Posters are one of the earliest forms of advertisement. They derived their name from the posts (dividing roads for general public and the horse carriages) to which paper pamphlets using lithographic stone printing were pasted. Posters have been used as a means of visual communication, advertisement and propaganda. They help in creating awareness, inspiring people and mobilizing support or loyalty for a cause. Apart from their functional aspect, posters have gained popularity as a unique and inexpensive form of creative expression, often with immense aesthetic appeal. It is precisely because of this that posters have become prized possessions and collectibles. Posters are also inexpensive decorative items, especially for the young.

Tip! Inspirational posters are available for purchase online. They are not very expensive.

Posters come in numerous types, categories, sizes and editions, and an infinite variety of categories. Banner-sized posters, bus stop posters, window cards, half sheets and six-sheet posters are a few among the various sized posters that abound in the market. Many posters are experimental; some are rare promotional posters like door panel posters, lobby cards, screening tickets, heralds and promotional cards. Some posters are press posters from press kits, slides and still kits, electronic press kits, campaigning book kits and ad sheets.

Posters are used for a variety of promotional and communication purposes, and there are some that qualify as collectibles. Deciding on what is a collectible is purely an individual decision. However, there are a few standard parameters that are taken into consideration while deciding the collectible value of a poster. The demand for a particular poster, its age (issue) and the condition of the particular poster (undamaged and unstained) are a few of the standard parameters applied. Limited editions are also valued by many people.

Tip! There can be an altogether different theme and purpose of the motivational poster. In recent years many organizations are trying to put across the message of their mission, vision and core values statement through posters with beautiful graphics.

Posters are usually found with individual companies and distributors. NSS History, NSS Tags and Demise are a few of the companies that operate as poster distributors. Movie posters are also distributed by studios. Nowadays, some posters are auctioned as art pieces. Art posters even make it to museums. There are many online options for those who aspire to be or are collectors.
