The Make of an Original Movie Poster

Drawings were probably the first thing man learned to do, long before writing or counting. Therefore, pictures remained until today the strongest form of expression. Along the years pictures were used for advertising, such as those that were made for announcing the theme of a movie.

The Beginning of the Original Movie Poster

Everything was hand drawn and painted in the beginning. Posters were depicted according to who was starring in the movie, as well as what the core of the story was about. In fact, there are still parts of the world that use this technique even today.

These parts of the world include India, which is also the largest movie producing country in the world, Africa, and some parts of South America. In these countries an original movie poster will be hand drawn and painted to announce the grand showing of the movie.
The Differences, Advantages, and Disadvantages

The difference is huge from what we used to create and what we are creating today as far as original movie posters are concerned. However, there are advantages and disadvantages as well in the progress that has been made.

The advantages are obvious to everyone: better graphics, picture, quality and image. Today’s technology covers as much area as required and advertises in detail the essence of the movie to be seen. Another great advantage that has to be mentioned is the preserving of paper, which was mainly used for the movie posters to start with.

The main disadvantage is the lack of human skills. Today, most creativity is taken over by machines and computers, leaving very little for us to work with and create. Original movie posters in the beginning were pieces of art which some treasured for a lifetime.

An Original Movie Poster Today

Today everything has been replaced by technology, and an original movie poster can probably be created within minutes to contain the same basics that it did in the beginning, meaning of course the main actors and the core of the story. Most times, paper is replaced by computer graphics that will change every so often as programmed.
Conclusion

We have to move on and welcome technology. However, at the same time we must keep in touch with our creative side, which will always bring the best in us because computers are not as crative as the human mind.

Technology is important in our lives, therefore we cannot live without it but if the creative side dies we no longer exist. Hold on to the poet and artist in you, and even if we may not draw an original movie poster again, sketching and writing will always remain true forms of expression and will be with you for life.
